José Arcadio Farías Rico
Biography

Jose Arcadio finished a bachelor in Biology (Sciences Faculty) and a Master’s in Biochemistry (Dr. Lorenzo Segovia, Biotechnology Institute) both at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Later on he moved to Germany for his doctoral work on protein design and evolution under the supervision of Prof. Birte Höcker in the Max Planck Institute (campus Tübingen). During his PhD training he became experienced in structural biology and bioinformatics. After Germany, he moved to Stockholm Sweden for his post doctoral work to study the folding of proteins in the ribosome under the supervision of Prof. Gunnar von Heijne. During his post-doctoral training he acquired experience to study the folding of proteins in vivo and became experienced on synthetic biology techniques.

He is currently a member of the national system of researchers SNI 1 and in November 2019 he joined as an associate researcher in the Laboratory of Synthetic and Systems Biology of the Genomic Sciences Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Daniel Alejandro López Martínez

Chemical Laboratory Technician of C.E.C. and T. 6 "M.O.M." of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) and currently a student of the Bachelor of Genomic Sciences (LCG) of the Genomic Sciences Center and the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT) of the UNAM.

Currently, he works under the supervision of Dr. Farías Rico using software for bioinformatic analysis of nucleotide sequences in order to search for groups of rare codons (Rare Codons Clusers) in different families of proteins in different species. We hope to find similarities between different sequences, which would reveal the important role of these groups of codons in the cotranslational folding of proteins.

I have strong beliefs about the importance of constant improvement on a personal level, I like science fiction stories, I love art and I have a special taste for surrealist and impressionist paintings.

José Alberto León González

Graduated from the Nacional Preparatory School on campus 9 and currently a 5th semester student of the Bachelor of Genomic Sciences (LCG) of the Center for Genomic Sciences and the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT) of UNAM.

Currently, I have a great interest in learning about protein design and that is why I went to Dr. Farías, with this purpose in mind, we plan to use software like Rosetta to generate a new protein-coupled glucose receptor with various cellular functions.

I have always liked to use all the tools and materials that have been within my reach to generate new things. I like video games and one of the activities I enjoy the most is jogging.

Michael Mourra

Graduated from Montes de Oca High School and currently a 6th semester student of the Bachelor of Genomic Sciences (LCG) at the Center for Genomic Sciences and the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT) of UNAM.

I am currently working on the development of tools for the detection of cotranslational folding sites in proteins.

I like to do outdoor activities such as soccer and volleyball, I also like music and computer security
